What to know
Why the app exists, in the team’s own words.
The scoresheet does not tell the story of the game. A player can have played with intensity, defended on the penalty kill, forced turnovers and won every faceoff: the only one anybody remembers is the player who scored the lucky goal, because that is the name on the sheet.
Kids believe they did not take part because they are not in the summary. That is where RinkLog comes from.
A player who creates six scoring chances against two allowed shows up nowhere. One tap during the game, and it becomes more than 25 charts: shot heat maps, faceoffs by zone of the rink, ice time shift by shift, a full goalie mode.
The app adapts to age and position. At the start, three buttons (shots, goals, assists) are plenty. A defender will add blocked shots; a centre will want faceoffs by zone.
The philosophy: progression, not pressure. It is not about proving that a child is good, it is about honestly showing them where they are improving, especially in the weeks when the scoresheet will not say it.
