Professional hockey has known this for a long time. The NHL awards the Selke Trophy every year to the most complete defensive forward, and history remembers that championship teams were built on unheralded workers like Bobby Clarke, an effort player before a scorer. These contributions can be measured: that is exactly what on-ice statistics do (+/-, chances for and against while a player is on the ice, SCF%).

For a kid who does not score much, making these plays visible changes everything: they discover their game matters, their parents discover they are improving, and their coach gets precise words to value them with. RinkLog exists for this: putting a number on the plays that make the team better.

  • The won board battle that extends a possession by 20 seconds
  • The screen in front of the goalie on a teammate's goal
  • The backcheck that turns an opposing 2-on-1 into nothing
  • The late-game blocked shot, hockey’s most concrete sacrifice
  • The shift with zero goals against versus the opponent's top line
  • The pass before the assist, invisible on every scoresheet

RinkLog measures and computes all of this automatically during your hockey, ball hockey and ringette games.
