RinkLog or LiveBarn: which tool should you choose to follow hockey?

LiveBarn is an arena video streaming service founded in 2014 in Montreal, today the largest broadcaster of youth and amateur sports in North America. Cameras installed in partner arenas film games, which subscribers watch live or on replay. LiveBarn was acquired in March 2026 by Ascent Sports Group, backed by the American firm GTCR. The company also offers, separately and pay-per-use, an AI video analysis module (Player Analysis Hub, powered by Sportlogiq). But LiveBarn does not do manual stat tracking: it is not a direct competitor, more of a complement to RinkLog.

Progress, not pressure

Where LiveBarn is strong

  • The largest broadcaster of youth and amateur sports in North America, with cameras in a very large number of partner arenas
  • Live viewing and 30-day replay, up to two simultaneous streams depending on the plan
  • AI-powered Player Analysis Hub module (Sportlogiq), automatic shift and heat map analysis
  • Acquired in March 2026 by Ascent Sports Group (backed by GTCR), a sign of market confidence in the service

Where RinkLog plays differently

  • LiveBarn does not enter individual stats: RinkLog and LiveBarn are complementary, not competitors. Rewatch the goal on LiveBarn, and log it in your player's record on RinkLog
  • RinkLog works in EVERY arena, including the tournament rink in a village with no camera: LiveBarn only exists in its roughly 2,170 partner arenas
  • A full year of RinkLog costs less than ONE LiveBarn Player Analysis report: $12.99 CAD for the season, versus $14.95 USD per game per player (goalies excluded), on top of the subscription
  • RinkLog computes the player's stats live during the game, offline, depending on neither the network nor a camera installed by the arena
  • RinkLog's analytics are complete and comparative: expected goals (xG), percentiles by age group, heat zones, ice time, PP and PK splits; LiveBarn's video analysis (Player Analysis and the new 2026 LiveBarn Analytics) remains tied to equipped arenas and team oriented
  • The season becomes family documents: a monthly PDF report card, player cards that export to video, 100+ trophies and medals, a profile shared by link
  • RinkLog is bilingual French and English throughout, priced in Canadian dollars, and compliant with Quebec's Law 25

RinkLog, the complete platform built around one player

LiveBarn shows you the game; RinkLog shows you the progression. Many families use both, but for the price of a single pay-per-game video report, RinkLog gives a whole season of all of this:

Analytics with real depth, in living charts

Shot heat zones on the rink, net heat zones and an ice map for goalies, a shot-type wheel, expected goals (xG), percentiles by age group, ice time shift by shift, trend curves, radar and faceoff zones. Not totals in a table: dozens of animated visualizations that tell the progression, game after game.

Report cards and exports, automatically

A monthly PDF report card generated on its own, CSV and PDF export, and an AI analysis of your player's data. Tracking becomes a document you can hand to a coach.

Player cards, trophies and medals

Themed player cards that even export as video, 100+ trophies and medals with their real rarity among members, and a public profile grandparents can open from a link.

Everywhere, on all your devices

iOS, Android, web and an installable PWA: one account signs in everywhere, everything syncs, and the family sees the full picture from anywhere. Dad taps at the rink, mom watches from the couch.

Truly offline

The whole game can be tracked with zero signal, start to finish, even without opening the app before walking into the arena. Everything syncs on its own when the network comes back.

Built for the family, not just one profile

Up to 2, 5 or 20 players on one account depending on the plan: siblings, one kid's ringette and the other's ball hockey, all in one place. A player calendar with reminders and an .ics feed, plus off-ice training programs included.

A price that respects families

Free for life to start, no credit card. Premium at $12.99 CAD per year at the founding price ($19.99 after): about a dollar a month, less than one arena coffee per tournament weekend.
