Which stats should you track for a hockey goalie?

The core for a goalie fits in three numbers: shots on goal faced, goals against and, derived from both, save percentage. Everything else (danger zones, rebounds, quality starts) is a refinement worth adding once the base is in place.

The difference between writing down "3 goals against" and real tracking is context: 3 goals on 40 shots including 12 from the slot is a solid game. RinkLog logs every shot with its zone in one tap from the stands, computes SV%, GAA and HDSV% live, and keeps the full history season after season. Goalie mode is included from the Premium plan.

  • Shots faced and goals against: the absolute base, trackable live
  • SV% and GAA: computed automatically from the base
  • HDSV%: saves on slot chances, the true talent measure
  • Rebounds allowed and controlled
  • Quality starts game after game
  • Shot heat map: where the goalie gets beaten

RinkLog measures and computes this statistic automatically during your hockey, ball hockey and ringette games.
