What is GSAx (goals saved above expected) for a goalie?

GSAx (goals saved above expected) compares the goals a goalie actually allowed to the total expected goals (xG) of the shots he faced. Positive GSAx means the goalie prevented goals the shot quality predicted; negative GSAx, that he allowed more than expected.

GSAx = sum of xG on shots faced - goals against

Example

Shots faced by a goalie total 3.4 expected goals and he allows 2: GSAx = +1.4. Whatever the final score, he had a great night.
