What is HDSV% (high-danger save percentage)?

HDSV% is the save percentage computed only on high-danger shots: from the slot, point-blank or off odd-man rushes. That is where games are won, and it is the measure that best separates a goalie padding stats on easy shots from one stealing wins.

Formula

HDSV% = saves on high-danger shots ÷ high-danger shots faced

Example

Of 30 shots faced, 10 come from the slot and the goalie stops 8: HDSV% = 80%. His overall 93% SV% hides that the other 20 shots were routine.
