These rules explain why a generic hockey tool tracks ringette poorly: no faceoffs to count, no hits, and THE stat that matters (the blue-line pass) exists nowhere else. RinkLog integrates this whole vocabulary natively in Ringette mode.
- Ring (anneau): the blue rubber ring replacing the puck, played with a straight stick
- Blue-line pass (passe de ligne bleue): the mandatory pass to cross the blue line; the ring cannot be carried across
- Free pass (passe libre): the restart from a circle that replaces hockey’s faceoffs
- Restricted zone (zone restreinte): only three skaters per team may play deep in the zone, which structures attacks
- Crease (cercle de gardienne): goalie territory; no skater may touch the ring inside it
- Minor penalty: 2 minutes; major penalty: 4 minutes (ringette’s own scale)
- Shot on net (tir cadré): same definition as hockey, only the goalie’s intervention stops it
