AcademyTracking and method

Which stats should you track for a forward?

All forwards share the core (goals, assists, shots, ice time), but the role sharpens the rest: a center adds faceoffs and defensive support; a power winger, hits and work below the goal line; a finishing winger, shot volume and quality (iCF, xG).

Picking 4 or 5 role-appropriate stats beats tracking everything: the stands-side tracking stays doable and the numbers stay readable. RinkLog’s RinkBuddy board customizes by drag and drop exactly for that, and benchmarks then compare the forward to same-position players.

  • Center: faceoff %, assists, defensive presence
  • Finishing winger: shots, iCF, xG and Finishing
  • Power winger: hits, chances created at the net front
  • Everyone: points per 60 minutes, SCF% and the 5-game trend

RinkLog measures and computes this statistic automatically during your hockey, ball hockey and ringette games.
