How do you calculate faceoff win percentage?

Faceoff percentage is faceoffs won divided by total faceoffs taken. Above 50%, the center hands his team possession more often than he gives it away; 55% and up is elite territory at just about every age.

Formula

Faceoff % = won ÷ (won + lost) × 100

Example

A center wins 9 faceoffs and loses 6: 9 ÷ 15 = 60%. Over one game it is anecdotal; over 20 games, it is a profile.

It is one of hockey’s most trainable statistics: technique (stance, anticipating the drop, stick work) earns percentage points within weeks. Measuring it game after game shows directly whether practice is paying off. Two buttons in RinkLog (won, lost) and the curve draws itself.

RinkLog measures and computes this statistic automatically during your hockey, ball hockey and ringette games.
